That's right. The new thing is to load up a desktop with a bunch of shortcuts to .exe files where each program has their own sign-on, navigation, and access control methods. Users love that!

I guess another option is to deploy your applications as Adobe Flash files, rather than load up the desktop with shortcuts. Adobe provides a nice developer tool that you can drag and drop UI components onto forms. Each component adds about 100K to the .swf file. Before you know it you can boast how trendy it is to download a 40 meg executable over the wire.
