I never suggested that you should not attempt to measure the performance of FTP on i5/OS versus on a PC, or that if a difference is detected, that you should not go ahead and open a PMR, etc. I was just pointing out some "caveats" -- and things to consider, that could influence the results.

I concur with John Jones' reply -- if you are going to "measure" the relative speed of FTP on i5/OS versus FTP on a PC, you might want to set up a "controlled environment", using FTP to transfer the same file from another local server on your local network, to i5/OS, and then do it the PC. :-)

Let us know the results of your testing. :-)

What led you to this line of inquiry in the first place? Have you noticed that FTP on i5/OS appears to be slower than FTP on your PC, when transferring the same size files from the same server or site?
