That takes me back to when I was designing systems to handle over-the-counter transactions at credit unions. In a busy office, tellers needed something that would do a lot with minimal keying.

I think that's a good point, that when designing a database, you need to put some forethought into the transaction oriented systems that directly feed, or interface with the general ledger at a summary level.
