wget http://www.example.com/myfile.php?upload=done

This sends a HTTP request, which will in turn execute a PHP script
with parameter upload set to done. This can then be used to execute
code that processes your upload.

geturi or httpapi should help you do the same. wget would just be a
simple way to achieve this in a Unix shell script.
