I'm trying to plan a test of the effects of query parallel processing degree options. We have SMP installed. System value QQRYDEGREE is currently set to *IO. I do understand that I can unleash SMP system-wide by changing QQRYDEGREE to *OPTIMIZE (or *MAX), or by setting the PARALLEL_DEGREE value in our copy of QAQQINI in the QUSRSYS library. I also understand that I can affect this change at a job level using the CHGQRYA command to specify a different DEGREE, or use CHGQRYA at the job level to specify a different library for a QAQQINI file with PARALLEL_DEGREE set differently than the system default.
Does anyone know a way to control the SMP query degree setting at a level that is less granular than job, but more granular than the system? We want to test a number of job streams. Many of these jobs submit dozens of jobs of their own. I don't want to have every job on the system running with an *OPTIMIZE value for query degree, but I can't possibly manage to hit every job or CL job stream I'd need to reach in our test.
