At the price of something like Aldon how can you justify that expense

for just one developer?

I can think of a lot of cheaper ways to track changes I would make to

source code.

There is always the Checkout/Checkin commands that come with TAATOOL.
And with Eclipse/WDSc there is the Eclipse CVS tool.
