Walden,

Thanks for the code. With that as a start I think we are in good shape. I really appreciate the news group resources!

Konrad,

What are your requirements? I used to run a simple syslog monitor I
wrote on my iSeries that forwards qsysopr/qsysmsg messages to our syslog
server. It would be simple enough to extend to read through audit
journals provided you didn't want to do much with the journal entries
besides forward them along. The CMD & CPP is at:
http://code.midrange.com/f5635bcb47.html and an example CL that
monitors message queues is at: http://code.midrange.com/aeca2789f0.html

In the monitor CL EX1 is the name of our syslog server, and we chose 19
and 6 as the facility and severity, you could choose something else as
the need strikes you.

Subject: iSeries Syslog support????

Anyone know of an opensource or free agent to convert the various AS400
security messages to a syslog format and forward them to a collector?

Thanks!

Konrad
