FYI for mobile users, labels generally don't show up. They might if you
have a GMail app but generally don't if using POP/IMAP.

On my Palm Pre, though, labels do show as folders. Messages are thus in
both the folder (with the label's name) and the In Box.

Been there. Doing that.

I currently have 24 filters set up. It's beautiful.

Under "Settings" then "Labs" there's a Custom Label Colors that's really
nice. You can set the label background color AND the label text color.

Folks:

For those of you using gmail and/or google apps for domains, there is a
pretty cool filtering operator you can use to keep your list mail nicely
organized with labels.

If you setup a filter with the following expression in the "Has the
words"
condition: 'list:"midrange-l.midrange.com"', it will match all messages
in
the midrange-l list from midrange.com.

From there you can apply a label (such as "midrange-l" and gmail will
automatically categorize your messages.

You can also use the "Filter messages like this" from the drop down list
in
the upper right hand corner to create filter automatically.
