This just came out and I thought I would just post this on the list.
Especially since the installation of SF240_382 is disruptive, you don't need
your system going down when you didn't expect it.

Unplanned outage risk when trying to load only I/O microcode
Unplanned outage risk when trying to load only I/O Microcode
Machines affected: HMCs at V7R3.4.0 and higher managing any p5 or p6 system
A problem has been identified with HMC V7R3.4 where unchecking the "Managed
System and Power LIC" check box during the "Change Licensed Internal Code
Wizard" will not stop the managed system and power code from getting
installed if the user elects to install only I/O microcode.
If the user does not specifically select to install I/O microcode, then the
operation will end and a message will be displayed stating "No updates were
selected to be installed".
* If the repository of code utilized during the "Change Licensed Internal
Code Wizard" contains I/O microcode, managed system and/or power code, and
such code requires a disruptive installation (ie SF240_358 -> SF240_382),
the result of unchecking "Managed System and Power LIC" and proceeding with
I/O only installation will be an unplanned outage without warning. Even
though the managed system installation was Unchecked and the intention was
only to install I/O code.
* If the repository of code utilized contains I/O microcode, managed system
and/or power code that can be installed concurrently, the result of
unchecking "Managed System and Power LIC" and proceeding with I/O Only
installation will be that managed system and power code will be installed
concurrently even though the managed system installation was unchecked and
the intention was only to install IO code.
Customer Impact
Managed system and power code will be installed even after the user selected
not to install it. Moreover, if such code requires a disruptive
installation, the operation will result in an unscheduled outage of the
managed system.
Workaround
Install the I/O microcode via the LPAR's operating system.
Fix
This problem will be corrected in the release of Service Pack 3 for the
V7R3.4 HMC code.
