Hans pretty much said that IBM transfered everyone out of the Toronto
lab...
I'm no defender of the faith, but I believe he said "a SUBSTANTIAL
NUMBER", and not everyone. I have no inside knowledge, but I do know
there are still people (yes, certainly plural!) working in Toronto on
the platform and it's enhancements.
Remember too, just because people were retasked doesn't mean what
they're doing still isn't beneficial to the platform. Take our
development environment. 10 years ago there were a number of people
working on PDM and SEU. Those people were clearly i-only jobs. Now today
you have people working on Eclipse and it's plugins. Are those i-only
jobs? Nope! Is Eclipse many time better than SEU and PDM? Yup! So that's
a net gain for the i community.
