You could use a service like
http://bit.ly to shorten the url. I know
bit.ly has an API called /shorten you could call to get a shorter url to
pass through the STRPCCMD. More info here
http://bit.ly/3eI7.
Also, if most of the URL is static, say all of it but the PDF file name,
you could just register it on
http://tinyurl.com. So your url could be
shortened to something like
http://tinyurl.com/insclms/

Just some ideas,

Re: STRPCCMD command to open a URL from Client Access Session
Hi Folks, I can't use strpccmd due to the 123 restriction and am asking
for the syntax of runrmtcmd based on this cmd;
Strpccmd pccmd(??C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe?
http://www.insurance.com/claimsdocs/F/rr/ss/1869674_01_4EW_20090827_1.pdf?)
pause(*no)
What should the values for CMD, RMTLOCNAME, and RMTUSER be and should MODE
be used or just leave the default?
As always, thanks for the help.
Frank

Path? We don't need no stinkin' path!
Talk about assumptions. Sheesh. This worked:
STRPCCMD PCCMD('rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler "c:/Documents and
ettings/jeff.dilgardfoods/my documents/abc.xls"')
Thanks Scott and Brian.

Jeff... I've used this with DOC, XLS, PDF... it works for me.
Perhaps you have the wrong pathname?

I'm dense. The following:
STRPCCMD PCCMD('rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler
"www.dilgardfoods.com"')
will open our company's home page. But the same statement doesn't
work for a .xls or .doc or .pdf file.
