We also have been patiently waiting, and waiting and waiting.
Once we get it, our plan is to try it out and if it is what we are looking
for then discussing full licensing (we assumed the free version would have
some restrictions on use) of it for internal use as well as for our
customers. (we assumed the free version would have some restrictions on use)

My own reaction is that if one can use the product freely and develop
good looking and useful applications, and know the product is useful,
then isn't that a pretty strong argument when you walk into the boss's
office and ask for funding in the next cycle?

Hi All,

I have been waiting for a while to play with the new development tools
called iLook from LookSoftware. A few websites and magazines very happily
announced the pending release of iLook as a free tool to add a GUI to your
green screens. A free path to modernization sounds great! Sign me up!

Of course, it was not quite ready for public consumption, and I was told
that September 10th was the availability date. True to their word, on that
date you could sign up for it -- but not download it yet. Ugh.

Even worse, this 'free application modernization plug-in' may be destined
for the 'too good to be true' bin... When you sign up for the download you
have to agree to the terms of service, which limit its use to two concurrent
users at a time. Hopefully that is two developers and not two end-users.
Two end-users would be a shame -- but I guess at least my screens could be
pretty. I might let the CFO see pretty stuff too, I guess.

Is anyone else planning to test this out?

Just curious,
Dave
