 It is my understanding that the e-mail addresses in QATMSMTPA are only
put there manually or via the following settings on the SMTP server
attributes:

 Automatic registration . . . . . AUTOADD        *YES

   Address  . . . . . . . . . . . ADDRESS        QSMRMTAD      
   System name  . . . . . . . . . SYSNAME        TCPIP

 User ID delimiter  . . . . . . . USRIDDELIM     '.'

I'm going to have to dig into this further. I do see some email
addresses in the QATMSMTPA file, but not as many as we have in the
system directory.
And I already wrote a command to retrieve the data from QATMSMTPA.....

Not necessarily.  Mine is completely empty, in both QTCP and QUSRSYS
libraries.  We changed our Mail service level to System message store so
the email address are not in that file but in the system directory.
(Where ever that may be hidden?  I think it is buried in the IFS.)
