I can tell you that we had a very intense discussion whether the
V.next of our ERP software will have a minimum release of V5R3 or of
V5R4. That was in the beginning of 2009 - and support for V5R3 expired
in April 2009.
In the end, we settled for V5R4 as a minimum release, but this was not
an easy decision. We've had difficulties because of this.
Reason is quite simple - release upgrades are _extremely_ expensive
for our customers, as they run low end machines. These machines also
get quite a bit slower on newer releases. And selling them new
machines isn't easy either.
