If you can save it to a previous release then you may be in luck. Let me
test that for you on 6.1 by compiling down to 5.3...release.
Nope
300- CALLSUBR TEST
* CPF0884 30 System command CALLSUBR does not exist for previous
release.
400-
500- SUBR TEST
* CPF0884 30 System command SUBR does not exist for previous release.
600- DSPJOB
700- ENDSUBR
* CPF0884 30 System command ENDSUBR does not exist for previous
there.
What this tells you is that no amount of ptf's for 5.3 will get you
list

Alan,
AFAIK, the answer is no. We have V5R3 in our shop, are current on PTFs
and the CL compiler does not allow subs (pity).

The use of subroutines in CLP first became available in V5r4will
Does anyone know if this was made available (via ptf or patch of some
description) back to V5r3?
The reason is that I have a program on our V5r4 system that uses
subroutines that I need to copy over to the V5r3 system, otherwise I
have to rewrite this program (and it will be messy)list
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks in advance
