Not to side with anyone, but Don, Pete has a perfectly valid point.
It costs time and money to do a backup site and as I understand it
COMMON is acting with about 1/3 of the fulltime staff that they had
last year. I am hoping COMMON will confirm some numbers like that so
we can gain understanding of their situation.

Don,

Do you ever have anything good to say about COMMON? Come on, why are
you giving COMMON such a hard time? What inconvenience is this system outage
going to cause you?

We are doing an i5/OS upgrade over the weekend, and while it won't
be down that long, we put that on the website so just in case someone was
going to need access, they would know ahead of time. Every system has
maintenance, and we want to upgrade the systems to V6R1 over the weekend.

Please let me know what services that you will be in need of during
the weekend, and I am sure that if there is something life threatening that
you must do this weekend that requires the use of the COMMON machine, I will
personally ask Ralph and Fred to reschedule the upgrade.

Pete (member of the COMMON board, speaking as an individual).

Subject: COMMON site down..

I know that at least one person is going to complain that this is being
negative and I really don't care, but is there any reason why the COMMON
site is DOWN until next MONDAY???

This isn't goodness. Especially for an iSeries group that's touting their
systems as being 24x7x365,etc.
