Why do the Batch jobs (there are 5 of them total running in the subsystem)
seem to be taking up to 60-70% of CPU while the interactive jobs are taking
.5 - 1% each


The first thing to consider is the nature of batch versus interactive
workloads. Interactive jobs tend to spend most of their time waiting for
input, thus very low CPU usage. This would be the most common explanation
for the statics you observe.

Of course not all applications this the normal profile, so... it depends.
