i cheated and wrote a LOADIMGCLG command that reads the IFS directory
containing the .bin/.iso files and adds them to the image catalog...
Thanks,

I keep mine as short as possible, f1.bin etc, less chance of typos :-)

Jerry,
What I've always done is rename the images to SF#####.01, etc. - using
2 digits for the sequence before I add them to the catalog. I also put
the groups in a different image catalog as I install them separately.
It's just easier to keep track of them that way for me.

I ordered the latest Cume for V5R4, which contained fifteen [15]
images. I
did the ADDIMGCLGE in the order of the images, such as SF99540_1.bin
first
and SF99540_15.bin last. I, also, downloaded some other groups and
added
these after the Cume.
Next I ran the CPYPTFCVR procedure, which automatically does a
VFYIMGCLG of
Type(*PTF).
Using the WRKIMGCLG I see that the order of the images is:
SF99540_11
SF99540_12
SP99540_13
SF99540_14
SF99540_15
SF99114_1 (through _8)
SP99540_1 (through _10)
I "think" that I recall from a COMMON session that the PTF apply
process is
smart enough (somehow) to put the PTFs in the proper order. If I
remembered
that correctly, the order of the images shouldn't matter.
But did I get it right?
Reordering the images probably wouldn't do a bit of good because, when
using image catalogues, the PTF process does a verify again, anyway,
so it
would probably just sort 'em back to the sequence above.
