I thought I'd heard about that at some point. Thanks for demonstrating that I'm not completely crazy, at least on this one point. Are you new on this list? If so, welcome to the squirrel-cage.

I thought it was a bit more developed, though. Between the "environment variable thing" to switch between unsecured and secured, and the fact that authentication is mandatory for secured mode, it seems to be a bit more trouble than it's worth at this point. On one of our boxes, I can't even get into the damn certificate store, because nobody remembers the password for it, and on both of our older boxes that have secured telnet, the certificates are expired (which doesn't seem to affect secured Telnet if you're only using the privacy functionality).
