Yes, it is at the "file system" level. To have IFS streamfiles reside in 
a user ASP, you must first create a user-defined file system (UDFS) in 
the desired ASP, and then, once you mount the UDFS, any IFS files or 
directories you create in that file system will reside in that ASP 
either a basic ASP (1-32) in *SYSBAS or an independent ASP. 

Prompt the CRTUDFS command and press F1=Help in the UDFS field at >= 
V5R1 to see info. about using independent ASPs with UDFS.
