A lot of times the firewall will close the control session if the data
transfer takes too long. You said they are on different networks, is
there a firewall in between?

Subject: FTP timeout after file transfer
Hello everyone,
I have been having this weird FTP problem for 3 weeks now. Every time I
do an FTP file transfer from iSeries to iSeries, my session times out
after I get the "File transfer completed successfully." (see log below)
OS/400 is the remote operating system. The TCP/IP version is "V5R3M0".
250 Now using naming format "0".
257 "QGPL" is current library.
bin
200 Representation type is binary IMAGE.
put tempsavf tempsavf
227 Entering Passive Mode(172,16,4,7,89,99) 150 Sending file to member
TEMPSAVF in file TEMPSAVF in library QGPL.
226-Sending data to server...
250 File transfer completed successfully.
No response from remote host; all connections closed.
My session hangs at "250 File transfer completed successfully" and I
have to wait until I get a time out to be able to logout my FTP session.
Has anyone encountered this before? Is there an FTP log file I could
look into? My iSeries machines are on different networks.
