My problems with RTVDIRINF are the high level of authority required to run, and the time consumed.  If you want your users to manage their own space (and if they're inclined or coerced to do so), the unix tools work fine.

At the system level, I'd completely agree that RTVDIRINF is the way to go.  But if I want to manage /tmp, for example, or /QOPT or /home/dennis... or even /usr, RTVDIRINF is overkill.  We should understand the alternatives.
