Depends on the platform the app is based on.
If it's Windows, most likely you need to use the ODBC, OLEDB or .Net
Drivers.
If it's Java, use JDBC.
Performance is going to be pretty close on all of them, of course
assuming you know how to write good SQL queries to make things perform
well :-)
