Hi guys

Type is 3581, model 028
I'm not sure, probably it is configured at random, tomarrow I will check.
Everyday I move last_used tape offsite.
It is two_weeks_cycle - means two weeks go offiste, and then go back tapes and cycle will be repeated.
I went with your steps and it seems that works!!
But now I think is it possible other way ...
means on Monday use tape MON and that COPY data from MON to ZET(last tape) - I hope it will not use AS400 system resources. I tried option 14 from WRKTAPCTG but it doesn't work ...
So how to copy from one volume/slot to another?

to answer other question ...
my console device is DSP01 :-)
my tapes are TAP0x
media library is TAPMLB0x

so probably I'm newbie because I didn't rename it :-) (and probably it is truth, I still and still learn of AS400)

I'm not using BRMS and Tivoli
The redundant tape I will use as ... safety backup. The standard_backup tape - like MON everyday go offsite - and because the courier/messanger will not carry on tape - many times tape has broken box, we decided to buy autoloader, and prepare backup on two tapes, second tape will always stay in our office, and will not expose to danger/possibilities of demage.

I hope that I explain why I asked :-)

Regards

Tomek

It depends on whether or not you
- have the drive configured to be random or sequential
- If random added both cartridges in WRKTAPCTG.

Rename your extra (TAP001). Have it begin with a Z so that it's always
last.

Assume you're starting from scratch...
RTVSYSVAL QDAYOFWEEK&QDAYOFWEEK
CHGVAR&DAYOFWEEK (%SST(QDAYOFWEEK,2,3)) /* strip off leading asterisk */
ADDTAPCTG DEV(TAPMLB02) CTG(&DAYOFWEEK Zsomething)
SETTAPCGY DEV(TAPMLB02) OPTION(*MOUNTED)
SAV...
SETTAPCGY DEV(TAPMLB02) OPTION(*DEMOUNTED)
RMVTAPCTG DEV(TAPMLB02) CGY(*NOSHARE)

However, if you have a single slot I/O station that RMVTAPCTG may have
issues.
Do you ever remove your tapes and move them offsite?
