Gee, you work for a software house. I though they were forbidden to
innovate and had to code to V3R2 or some ancient release.
If so, you might want to check the V5R4 or V5R3 info center on identity
column and how we used to retrieve the generated value (without relying on
our insert being the last insert performed, max(rrn) or some other such
risky technique).
