which is why IBM should be offering this.
Oh, I understand that they probably can't upgrade that particularto
hardware... That's not the point! If I am paying for time on a host
develop (or just play with) next generation applications andtechnology,
I'd expect to get access to a modern platform with all the modernIn
features.
I can well imagine that offering this service to developers would be
quite expensive to maintain, which is why IBM should be offering this.
It also gives IBM an opportunity to showcase new technologies to
idevelopers, where they can get their hands on it and play with it.
most of the shops I have worked, it is EXTREMELY difficult to getDevelopment,
software loaded on the i, so that I can evaluate it. If IBM provided
the sandbox, we might be able to approach modernization projects in an
informed and confident manner.

How much is the OS version tied to the type of hardware it is able to
run
on? I have a machine on V5R3 that I would love to upgrade to V5R4 but
don't
believe it would be feasible at this point (i.e. because I don't have
the
machine on maint).
