I too do NOT have my managed system (rack) go down when all lpars are
down. But I do it because it makes it easier when dealing with firmware
upgrades and whatnot. For that same reason I do not have any of my
partitions start up when the managed system starts up. It ain't that hard
to click to start. Only risk is if we lose power and everything drops and
we don't have the right system value set. But we're hoping that with a
UPS and a generator the risk is so minimal that it's not worth them
starting up inadvertently.
