You need unique keys for each release. So the question is, do you have SWMA
(Software Maintenance) for this machine? If yes, you can get the V5R4 keys,
and then upgrade to V5R2 and within 70 days upgrade to V5R4 and put the keys
(V5R4) in which will be perm keys.

Subject: Do I need NEW license keys everytime I upgrade my IBM OS

I wanted to upgrade the OS on one of our old machines from V5R1 to V5R2 I
have all the CDS but I can't find any license keys.

I know it's too late to request them from IBM.

If I am not installing anything new, just upgrading from V5R1 to V5R2 will I
need new License keys for V5R2?

Can I use WRKLICINF and DSPLICKEY on V5R1 to print off the license keys for
V5R1 and use them after I upgrade to V5R2

Thanks

John
