An interesting approach, but it will fall apart on the first file rename.

One thing you might do, though, (after adding that column) is have a BEFORE
READ trigger on such a table, and the BEFORE READ would fill in the column.
Then it wouldn't matter what data actually existed there. That would be
fairly easily accomplished.
