Only change? They swapped a pair of gears from the drive motor to the
gear train that ran things. "Instant" speed increase. "Instant"
monthly charge increase.
And the school I was attending at the time unupgraded a few months
later-- seems between the hardware and the electronics things weren't
quite up to reliably handling the faster speed, so there were more
errors than at the slower speed.
