Is there a specific need for IBM's 5250 software? I've had a better experience using tn5250j on Linux. Aaron Bartell has a version on his site that fixed a keyboard mapping issue, IIRC. It's simple to set up and use, very portable, and is much more configurable than iSeries Access--in my experience.

Also, it works on anything that runs java, so you're not bound to Ubuntu's distro if you don't want to be.
