Can you be more specific about the "bombing out" part?  Post the error 
message you're receiving...

IIRC, older versions of Excel support up to 32767 rows, so 10000 
shouldn't be a limitation.  New versions of Excel support far more.  So 
I don't know why you're getting this error, but posting the error 
message would give us a lot more information.
