to know this information so that he or she could place an order for
your software in the first place. Customer support tells me we have
that problem with our product too.

That isn't a problem here. In our case, all we need for delivery and installation is for them to have either a terminal session or an FTP port open on the desired LPAR of the desired box; the authorization code doesn't get generated until we have enough installed to know the model, serial, and LPAR.

And an off-List reply is simply a matter of manually cutting and pasting my email address into the TO address.
