Hi Rich,

The way I'm reading your message... it sounds like you already know how to pass a message to SNDEMAIL. You need to know how to read a PF from RPG or CL and use it's contents to build a string containing a message? Is that correct?

Seems to me that it's just a matter of doing something like:

msg = msg + 'job: ' + %char(jobno) + CRLF
+ 'total record: ' + %char(totrcd) + CRLF
+ 'account number: ' + %char(acctnum) + CRLF;

etc, etc. I can't be more precise than that, because I don't know enough about your environment. But surely you already know how to read a file? So building a string is just a matter of concatenation.

Or did I miss the question entirely?

All, I'm using the SNDEMAIL command, I need to create either a CL or rpg
program that will read a database file and created one big message field
to be send out, I know it hard to explain but here is a example, with the
message box I need to put in the following:

job: xxxxxxx
Total record: xxxxxxxx
Accout number: xxxxxxx

How would I do this with a program or a cl program????

Thanks.
