Brian,
Sounds like you're adding an 0595/5095, memory, and Disks. This is going to require an outage anyway so do it all at once. Disk units can be added in open slots on RAID cards with available capacity without downtime but this (especially memory and expansion units) requires an outage. In addition cabling rules and memory rules differ by system and by how many of each you already have installed. This large of an upgrade is best left to an expert.

Hi All,

We received in our additional DASD for our 520. We have a 595 disk expansion unit as well into which these modules will be placed.

Can someone point me to some resources on how I can install these DASD modules? Does the 400 need to be taken down to install the modules, or is it a simple plug and play operation with some additional commands that need to be run from the console? Also, should this install be done during a maintenance window, or would it impact production? I'm guessing yes since it will need to rebuild the array and "level out" the data across all disks.

I'll probably wait until our VAR technician arrives to install them, but if it's easy enough to do on my own I might consider it. We do have additional main storage that needs to be installed, so I might just do that all at once.

Thanks!
