I have several customers who are just now upgrading to V6R1 because their BP
finally (in March) certified his software for that release.
I was on a conference call the other day where we were discussing the
upgrade with a members of the vendor's technical staff. Just to poke the
hornet's nest, I suggested that we skip 6.1 and go straight to 7.1.
The guy actually said "What's that?"

There's a lot of vendors out there, large and small, who hoard their
maintenance money and put it on the backs of their customers to test
software on new releases of OS. I wonder if how they certify is by the
number of customers running the new version of the OS without incident.
Better vendors have their stuff certified on or before GA date.
