A lot of casinos and hotels were running software from either Hotel
Information Systems or IBM. HIS is now defunct, and IBM's HRGAS code went
the way of MAPICS, DMAS, CMAS, etc. IBM sold it off and the software has
changed hands several times.

I sometimes wonder how different our IT world would look today if IBM hadn't
gotten out of the software business.

I interviewed for a job at Bally's in Atlantic City in the late 90s. 
Their data center looked just like ever other one I had ever been in. 
 From what I remember, they had 10-15 AS/400s. They even had some S/36 
code still running.
