I have advice rather than an official answer. The tool's help/support may
bring something official to light.

The issue is probably not with the emulator session per se, but with what
used to be called "router functions" under the covers. Usually, that entity
will log you into various functions as needed (such as data transfer or
opening a new display session). The key is to cause this service/program to
end, and then restart it.

In the case of Client Access, when you start a session it asks for a
password, and can offer a chance to change the password then. My first
recommendation would be to use that option. If that's not applicable for
whatever reason, then perhaps (and this is dicey) the problems may be
avoided by exiting the tool after the password change. (As far as I know,
IBM's Client Access solution no longer provides that capability, and a
reboot may be in order. But in reality, it's probably a service that could
be restarted.) The tool may have better guidelines for you; this is what
has worked for me. Or I've been extremely lucky since the 80s (or whenever
PC Support/38 was introduced).

The bigger they are, the harder they hit.

How do I synchronise the tools password with the new AS400 Password
which they would have changed while signed on.

Is there any place in the 5250 Emulator which needs to be changed so
that the password is in sync.

Many Thanks
Darell

I have seen users get disabled because they were using a tool such as
Client
Access, and changed their password while signed on with that tool...
then
going on to perform other tool functions such as data file
transfers.  The
tool, under the covers, tries to log them in again with the password
they
used when they started...

Live and learn.
(But not in that order.)

A user complains that a particular service profile gets disabled. When
I
checked the AS400 Logs,it suggests the following:

Message . . . . :   Subsystem QINTER disabled user profile BOTTOMLN
on
device   QPADEV000G.

Cause . . . . . :   User profile BOTTOMLN on device QPADEV000K or
network
address XXX.XX.XX.XXX has been disabled because the maximum number
of
sign-on attempts specified for the QMAXSIGN system value has been
reached.

As per the logs ,the profile got disabled due to 3 unsuccessful
attempts.I have enabled the profile and it is working fine.

I am curious if there can be any other  reason for this AS400 profile
getting disabled.
Is it related to Windows Login Id or 5250 Emulator or session timeout
etc disabling this profile for some reason?Pls advice
