Yes, there is an entry in WRKPRB for this condition. The CPI5922 error message told me to run the ANZPRB command if the problem persisted after varying the dice off and on, but, since the drive went to Varied On and worked, I never pursued that line. The problem reports message CPF6797 as the message id. It, also, says that the error is an alertable condition, but option 9 (Work with Alerts) says that there are no alerts, but that is because the ALRLOGSTS (to which I never paid any attention before) is set to *Off.

The tape drive does seem to be useable after the vary off/on steps. I set up a program to save a bushel basket full of libraries, and they were all saved (DSPTAP to *Print).
