The Stored Procedures, triggers, and UDF Redbook says:

"If the trigger determines that invalid data is being inserted, the
insert operation has to be
rejected. We can achieve this by sending an escape message to the call
stack entry where
QDBPUT is running. For this purpose, use the QMHSNDPM API to signal an escape
message to QDBPUT. You may choose to send a user-defined message back to the
application that fired the trigger."

Assuming your trigger is RPG..

If SQL, you'll want to make use of the SIGNAL SQLSTATE VALUE .... statement.

Is that like using SNDPGMMSG or something similar?

My thought was to (in the trigger program when they're doing maintenance
when they shouldn't be) was to send a break message and inform them of
their misdeed. And then end their job (or call a pc program to give the a
BSOD ;)

Thanks!
