Makes you wonder why they picked the name "i" for their operating
system, doesn't it? It's a name upon which they cannot establish a brand:
1) Because it's one character long, and already a word, establishing a
brand would be ridiculously difficult to begin with.
2) Because Cisco already owns the trademark on i/OS, and Apple is
licensing it, and using the lowercase i for /everything/ (and was doing
so before IBM was)
How could they possibly expect to build a brand with this name?! Or are
they deliberately trying _not_ to?
Of course, this isn't a new discussion. I said the exact same thing
when the dullards at IBM came up with the name "System i" in 2006. Then
I repeated it when they came up with just "i" in 2008.
It's good to see that you guys are finally noticing.
