Prior to V5R2 all software was resellable, however once someone upgraded
past that point, IBM's license agreement specifically prohibited the
selling of licensed programs (other than the OS).

Subject: can IBM i license be sold with hardware?

can an IBM i system ( JS12 blade ) be sold with its IBM licensed
software? ( OS, LIC, licensed programs ). The answer I recall from
discussions in the past is yes, but you need some paperwork that came
with the as400. I don't recall any special papers with the JS12 blade.
When loading the system, I recall the license key system number was
the important number to have when getting keys from the license key
center.
thanks,
