Agreed on the i7, although I also upgraded from 6-8 gb of RAM and Virtualized my 7 year old T40 :-)

VMware Workstation Rocks for test scenarios !!

If you like Sony's, get the VAIO.  Nothing beats working in a dark room with a backlit keyboards.

Joe,

I highly recommend springing for the i7 chip for yourself.  RBD and RDi both SCREAM on an i7 and 6 gigs of RAM on my new laptop.  Now, I if I can convince the wife that i really NEED the SSD upgrade.  :)
