Does this pertain to running it natively on I.

that is disappointing, very disappointing. Of course Oracle does not like
IBM. Maybe Zend(as MySQL is bundled) could put in a word for the number of
MySQL instances are installed.

IBM i 5.4 and 6.1
Due to very low demand and according to IBM a 5.4 Jan-07-2011 EOM (see
http://www-947.ibm.com/systems/support/i/planning/upgrade/suptschedule.html
)
these distributions have been dropped.

I downloaded recently 5.1.52 as that was the latest one I could find for
IBM i. I suppose that version will work for a while if IBM continues to
support the storage engine.

Does anyone know the status of these products for the future on IBM i?
Just wondering if they will be sticking around. Based on the MySQL
website, it looks like the last version of MySQL Community Server
available for download is 5.0. Unless I missed something, nothing is
available for versions 5.1 and 5.5. The information on IBM's website
seems
dated. In terms of the Enterprise Edition, it looks like one has to
contact MySQL/Oracle, but I haven't had any success via phone or email. I
presume MySQL _CS_ comes bundled with Zend Server, but I'd like to know
what is involved with upgrading to Enterprise Edition, if anything,
beyond
a license key.

As for the storage engine, I found this in the MySQL documentation: "The
IBMDB2I storage engine was introduced in MySQL 5.1.33 and considered GA
in
MySQL 5.1.35. It was removed in MySQL 5.1.54." So maybe 5.1 is available
on IBM i after all since I assume this refers to said platform. Maybe
someone using these products could offer clarification.
Thanks,

Blake
