What does BINARY mode have to do with the errors you posted?

Here's what you posted:

append xxxrd60p
227 Entering Passive Mode (172,16,0,8,179,191).
150 Sending file to member XXXRD60P in file XXXRD60P in library TOMTEST.
Unable to send data to server.
426-Cannot write to member XXXRD60P in file XXXRD60P in library TOMTEST.
426 Data transfer ended.
226 ABOR subcommand received; no transfer in progress.

put xxxrd50p
227 Entering Passive Mode (172,16,0,8,117,97).
150 Sending file to member XXXRD50P in file XXXRD50P in library TOMTEST.
Unable to send data to server.
426-Cannot write to member XXXRD50P in file XXXRD50P in library TOMTEST.
426 Data transfer ended.
226 ABOR subcommand received; no transfer in progress.

What on EARTH does that have to do with whether you do/don't use BINARY mode? Binary mode enables/disables translation. It has nothing to do with whether you can send data to a server.

I did not have it set to BINARY!!!! It works now.

I need a slap across the face. Mr. Rogers would even do that.

Normally it tells you to switch to Binary. I guess that should be a rule of
thumb.
When my current employer wises up and fires me, I hope people who are
interviewing me
do not Google my name and read this.
