 I've started separating my sqL Statements like this :

select * from myfile;
;*******************************************************************************************************;
delete from myfile;

I can read them easier and put a title or a description in place, and if I do get trembling fingers and click multiple times on the execute selection button, It tries to execute the description between ; and ; and gets stuck. In the example, there is no risk of deleting everything from myfile.
