Subject: Spreadsheet data to iseries file - character conversion

We received a spreadsheet (excel) with product descriptions in various languages and with numerous special characters depending on the quaint and curious apostrophes - rings - dots hooks and whatever is required for the language in question.

Current working on getting the data from this spreadsheet into the product files and task at hand is Latvian and Lithuanian.

The problem is that whatever way I try I get stuck with some character conversion that does not work properly. Least unsuccessful attempt was copying a CSV version of the spreadsheet to the IFS and then using tools in the Navigator to get data from there to a database file where the text field was defined as CCSID 1200 (Unicode). But even that was nowhere near good enough.

Any ideas warmly welcomed

Med vänlig hälsning / Best regards
