Then you needed a decent KVM for that figure. Having a gold plated HMC
still doesn't solve the shared session issue.
Try this:
Physically walk over to your HMC. Shutdown any existing 5250 sessions. Do
not start them back up yet. Walk back to your desk. On your pc start a
shared 5250 session on the HMC. Start a long running process in that
session. While that process is running kill the session. See if the
process aborts. It will. If, however, you used a KVM to start the
session (assuming like the OP that you have no physical access to your
HMC) and then connected to it remotely it would have stayed running.
Now, there is something reminiscent of the S/36 CONSOLE GIVE and the
CONSOLE TAKE although it's done at the SST level. I have this set up on
two lpars. It's a little weird when you first start up the 5250 session
because you log into SST before you log on to the 5250.
