V5R1 Products Changes

We are on V5R1.  I have to / want to install the System Openness Includes
and the QShell interpreter; I would like to include online help, but in the
interests of saving disk space, I guess I can use the manuals when I need
help.  In addition I have the last CUME for 5.1 that I need to install.  And
there are some products installed that we do not need/use that I want to
delete to free up space (we are running at 81.1% disk utilization this
morning).

 

Regarding the unused products, they are 5722AF1 (AFP Utilities), 5722CM1
(Communications Utilities), and 5722JS1 (Advanced Job Scheduler).  None of
these keyed products has a key according to the QSFWINV command (in fact
5722JS1 has an expiration date of 1-26-11).  The Handbook says that 5722CM1
is a MVS/VM Bridge and RJE utilities.  Can anyone tell me Why we would want
5722CM1?

 

I think that the proper sequence for all of this would be:

 

1) Full system save

2) IPL into restricted state

3) Delete the unwanted products

4) Install the Openness and QShell stuff

5) Maybe another full system save

6) Install the CUME

7) Full system save

8) Test

9) Go home

 

Any holes in the plan?  A better strategy?
