Are you using any aggregate functions, such as %sum, %max, etc? If not,
then why group?

Your sample could be better. With the sample shown I couldn't tell if it
was sorted by 3-1-2 or 1-2-3 because of the coincidence.

And I think you are going to have to include all fields on your group by
statement. It is not as if you could do

SELECT DISTINCT *
FROM QTEMP/BRIAN b
GROUP BY b.*
